Local Church To Hold Prayer Service For Officer Killed In Shootout
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A church in the neighborhood where Officer Robert Wilson III was fatally shot has announced a service and fundraiser in his honor.
Saint Martin de Porres Parish at 2340 West Lehigh Avenue says it will be remembering Officer Wilson's "life and service in prayer" on Sunday, March 8th at 10 a.m.
While the service is not an official memorial, the church is inviting the community to gather and mourn the loss of the officer.
A special collection will also be taken during the mass to benefit Officer Wilson's children.
Officer Wilson, who was reportedly in full police uniform, was shot in the head inside a Game Stop store at 22nd and Lehigh on Thursday.
Two suspects have been charged in connection with the crime.
