Downed Wires Snarl Traffic On Route 70 In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, N.J., (CBS) -- One lane is open in each direction along Route 70 in Cherry Hill Township as crews continue to make repairs after live wires fell in the roadway.

The incident was reported around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Route 70 and CR 636/Cuthbert Boulevard.

All lanes were closed on Route 70 in both directions for about an hour and a half.

PSE&G says 2,700 customers were without power, but everyone has since had their power restored.

Around 10 p.m., one eastbound lane was reopened to traffic.

About 45 minutes later, Cherry Hill Police said one westbound lane was also reopened.

Police say the repair work should be completed in the next six to eight hours.

Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes as delays are expected for the start of the Wednesday morning commute.

No injuries have been reported.
