Lifelong Phillies Fan Jeff Singer Will Sign With Team

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jeff Singer's dream of playing for the Philadelphia Phillies is about to come true.

The 22-year-old pitcher from Cinnaminson, New Jersey pitched for the Camden Riversharks this summer and will sign a minor league contract with the Phillies. Singer also pitched at Holy Cross Academy and Rutgers-Camden University.

"My whole family is from Philadelphia and I lived there for the first three years of my life before moving to New Jersey," said Singer said via the Courier-Post. "We're all Phillies fans and are excited. It's a great opportunity for me."

"He has a good curveball and a good change-up," said Phillies scout Rowland George. "He has a bright future. He's a great kid with a big heart and he's not afraid of hard work. As long as he stays healthy, I believe he will pitch in the big leagues."
