LEGOLAND Is Coming To Philadelphia

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. (CBS) -- Kids (and adults), get ready to get your LEGO on.

The LEGOLAND chain has announced it will open its ninth U.S. location about 15 miles northwest of Philadelphia at the Plymouth Meeting Mall.

Merlin Entertainments, which owns the children's indoor attractions, says construction of "LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia" will begin next summer.

The space will include a variety of play areas, LEGO Master Model Builder classes, rooms to hold special events like birthday parties and a 4D cinema.

"Plymouth Meeting Mall is the ideal location for the attraction as the mall is already a favored destination for Pennsylvania families and tourists from the region," Merlin executive John Jakobsen said.

Once completed, the LEGOLAND attraction will be located on the south side of the mall- facing the Pennsylvania Turnpike and AMC Theatres, according to mall owner Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT).

LEGOLAND centers are tailored to families with kids from 3 to 10 years old, who can usually explore the indoor facility and its interactive stations in about 2-3 hours.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia is slated to open in Spring 2017.
