Missing Pregnant Teacher Found Dead In Maryland, Boyfriend Charged With Murder

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (CBS) -- Police in Maryland say a pregnant teacher who was missing for more than a week has been found dead and her boyfriend is being charged with the murder.

The discovery was made around noon on Wednesday when police say they found the body of Laura Wallen, 31,  in a shallow grave in the woods in Maryland.

Around 5 p.m. Wednesday police say they arrested Wallen's boyfriend, Tyler Tessier and charged him with the killing.

According to CBS Baltimore, her family and friends became alarmed last week when she didn't show up for the first day of classes at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, Maryland.

Wallen, who was four months pregnant, has been missing for more than a week.

Police say Wallen last contacted family members by text message on Sunday, but authorities believe Tessier sent the message from Wallen's phone.

Tessier pleaded for her to come during a press conference this week.

Tessier, who reportedly dated Wallen for 10 years,  said couldn't sleep and was desperate to find Laura and their unborn child.

"There's nothing we can't fix together. Myself and your family," says Tessier, addressing Wallen.

While Wallen was missing, Tessier was seen several times at the site where her body was found, police said. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the property, Manger said, and officers with cadaver dogs found the shallow grave.

Tessier will have a bail review hearing Thursday, Manger said. It could not be immediately determined if he has a lawyer.

It's unclear at this time how Wallen died.
