Lane Johnson: Playing At Linc 'Is Not Really A Home Field Advantage Anymore'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Third-year offensive tackle Lane Johnson has become one of the more vocal and candid players on the Philadephia Eagles.

On Tuesday, speaking to reporters, Johnson may have put his foot in his mouth, so to speak.

According to Josh Paunil, Johnson went after the fan base.

"If we down by any significant amount of points or we don't make any first downs, we're going to get booed," Johnson told Paunil. "That's just kind of how it is. It's not really home field advantage playing here anymore. Really, that's the truth. Cats here, they don't really care."

Paunil was asked about the context of the question on Twitter:

Johnson, 25, has been productive as an Eagle and established his reputation as a popular player in this town, but publicly criticizing the fans is probably not the best way to go.

While Johnson may be correct, this is something he probably should have kept to himself.

Lane Johnson quickly apologized to the fans, saying his comments were "out of line." Johnson said "we need to give [fans] a reason to cheer by scoring and winning games."
