KYW Flashback: Giddyup! Devon Horse Show Never Disappoints
DEVON, Pa. (CBS) - Just show people horses -- on the track or in a ring -- and you can make tons of money.
When it's for charity, you have a winner. Combine it with a mini-country fare and a midway jammed with boutique shops, and the crowds will beat a path to your gate.
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair launched in 1896. For nearly a century, it's been gathering funds for Bryn Mawr Hospital while attracting some of the world's best riders and jumpers.
The crowds have been made up of horse lovers, people with a sense of history and the curious.
For 50 years KYW has been covering the activity every Memorial Day weekend. The color, pageantry, lemon sticks and cotton candy never disappoint.
