The year was 1987 and the recent immigration reform act resulted in a million agricultural green cards being issued, many on Brandywine Valley farms.
The immediate effect was to propel Chester County to the apex of the nation's mushroom industry. Later, mainstream weekenders enjoyed the full impact of the melting pot.
