Kimmo Timonen Still Suffers From Blood Clot In Leg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Kimmo Timonen was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and in his leg this past April. The condition has left the 39-year old sidelined this season up to this point. Flyers general manager Ron Hextall gave an update on Timonen's condition on Saturday.

Hextall announced that the blood clot in Timonen's lungs has cleared up, but he is still dealing with the blood clot in his leg.

The Flyers GM stressed that the priority is to make sure Timonen is fully cleared before they even think about allowing him to play. He stressed that Timonen wants to return to the ice at some point, but that the team and the player will weight the risk and reward.

"Even if there's no risk and [Timonen] doesn't feel comfortable playing, then we'll live with that," Hextall told the media on Saturday.
