Kevin Hart: 'At The End Of The Day, I Bleed Philadelphia'

By Ray Boyd

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Thursday, Kevin Hart joined Michael Barkann and Rob Ellis on 94 WIP. Philly's funniest son is coming home this summer and will be performing at Lincoln Financial Field.

The performance will mark the first time a comedian has headlined a National Football League stadium.

There was a lot to get through in Hart's time with Barkann and Ellis. Of course Hart, a 4-time MVP of the NBA's Celebrity Game, had to address the spin move that he fell victim to while playing against another Philly native, Mo'ne Davis.

"Mo'ne definitely showed people that I need to work on my legs a little bit," Hart explained. "The girl is strong, okay. She spun off me. She caught me off guard."

Hart attributed his 16-point MVP performance to the anger he felt after Davis' successful spin move.

"If you wake up a dog, you're going to get bit," Hart said.

After explaining the challenge of guarding Davis, Hart addressed his next big challenge. He will have to try to sell-out Lincoln Financial Field which holds north of 68,000 people.

"I'm going to do it with the love of my city," Hart said of trying to fill such a huge venue. "At the end of the day, I bleed Philadelphia. I'm only doing one stadium on this tour and that's Philadelphia. I didn't want to do it anywhere else."

Hart will also be shooting his special during that performance in Philadelphia as he prepares to put out another comedy special.

Hart expressed that the city of Philadelphia shaped him immensely before he ventured into comedy.

"I am who I am because of Philadelphia," Hart explained. "You take Philly away, I'm nowhere near the talent that I am.

"I literally credit my upbringing and the City of Brotherly Love. At the end of the day, if you make it in Philly, you can make it anywhere."

Despite all of his success in comedy, Hart made it clear that there was never a moment where he felt like he had arrived on the scene to stay.

"The day that I think that, is the day I'm too comfortable in my career."

Hart also endeared himself to the Philly fans while on with Barkann and Ellis. Despite going all over the world as a comedian, Hart has remained true to his commitment to all Philly sports teams.

He shared with the guys some of his favorite Philly athletes of all-time.

"I got to say Randall Cunningham," Hart said when asked what Eagle was his favorite growing up.

"Probably one of the most exciting players to play for Philadelphia."

When it came down to basketball, "you got to go Dr. J and Allen Iverson," Hart said.

What about Charles Barkley?

"Charles Barkley, I'd say yes, but Charles Barkley's shorts were too small back in the day. It was tough," Hart admitted.

Hart will return home to take on Lincoln Financial Field on August 30th. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 20th at Ticketmaster.com.
