Arson Investigation Underway After Body Found In Kensington House Fire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A body was discovered following a house fire in Philadelphia's Kensington section on Monday night. Investigators are now saying the fire was intentionally set.

The fire broke out at a home on East Clementine Street, near Jasper Street, a little before 11 p.m. It took firefighters about a half-an-hour to place the fire under control.

While the fire was contained to the first floor, authorities say they found 28-year-old Gary Schmeltzer dead on the second floor.

Officials say a firefighter was taken to the hospital for a minor injury. Another person who was inside jumped out of the house and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Homicide detectives, the fire marshal, and the ATF are all investigating.
