Ken Giles: Doctor Said Back Tightness Is 'Nothing I Should Be Worried About'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- One of the lone bright spots heading into the 2015 Phillies season, which begins on Monday (3:05 p.m. vs. Boston Red Sox), is Ken Giles.
The 24-year-old, hard-throwing right-handed relief pitcher, left Tuesday's Spring Training game against the Toronto Blue Jays after experiencing tightness in his back.
"My goal is to be ready for opening day," Giles said Thursday morning. "The doctor said it's nothing I should be worried about. Still a little stiffness there, but it doesn't bother me or anything like that. I played long toss [on Wednesday] and it did just fine."
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters on Wednesday, that he doesn't believe Giles will need to be place on the disabled list.
