Libertarian Group Ranks Kane As Nation's Worst Attorney General

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Kathleen Kane has been named the worst state attorney general in the country, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, which ranked the six worst in the nation.

CEI is a non-profit, libertarian think tank.

The group says all of those on the list are repeated offenders and betrayed the trust of citizens.

Author Hans Bader of CEI said, "Historically, the job of a state AG is to act as the state's chief legal advisor, charged with defending the state in court and giving legal opinions to officials on pending bills and policies. In some instances, AGs are also empowered by state legislatures to enforce specific laws and assist district attorneys in prosecuting serious crimes. But increasingly, state AGs are ignoring these basic obligations and meddling in areas traditionally outside their purview."

On Wednesday, hundreds of pornographic emails and documents relating to the case against Kane were unsealed.

On Monday, a judge ruled for the case to go to trial, for allegedly leaking grand jury information.

Kane denies any wrong doing.
