Kane Spokesman: Minimal Impact From Law License Suspension

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A spokesman says Attorney General Kathleen Kane told top staffers that there will be "minimal" impact on the functions of her office when her law license suspension takes effect after today.

Attorney General Kane's law license suspension is the result of a state Supreme Court ruling a month ago. Kane spokesman Chuck Ardo says Kane briefed top staffers on how she will proceed going forward.

"She pointed out that 98-percent or so of her duties are administrative or ministerial, and she plans to continue performing those duties."

As to the two percent of duties that require the signature of a licensed attorney and Kane cannot perform, Ardo cited things such as signing off on search warrants and wiretap orders. He says the position she has taken about how her office will function is based on consultation with attorneys and her own understanding of the law.
