Journal Ranks The 50 Best College Towns In America

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –  When you graduated from college, were you sad to leave because you loved the town where you received your degree? You may not be alone.

An independent college review journal, BestCollegeReviews.org, created a list that ranks the best college towns in the nation. The factors they considered when compiling the list were: livability, student-to-resident ratio, cultural offerings, school presence and large employers.

The bad news for us here in the Philadelphia-area is only one "local" college broke the top ten.

State College, Pennsylvania, home to the "We Are!" proud Penn Staters comes in at a respectable number eight out of 50.

The student body (31,065) is almost half of the town's entire population (70,133.)

BestCollegeReviews says "State College truly is a college "town" in the truest sense of the word, with a local obsession with Penn State football, great local schools, and a thriving downtown located near the University."
