PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Joel Embiid will not travel with the Sixers to Indianapolis for their game against the Pacers on Wednesday night.

Embiid, 22, missed his first two NBA seasons after having back-to-back foot surgeries and the Sixers are simply being careful with their prized big man.
"I want to play, but like I said, they care about me and I'm going to follow whatever they have planned for me," Embiid told reporters after Tuesday's practice.

Playing on a 20 to 24 minute restriction so far this season, Embiid is off to an excellent start averaging 17.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game. He's leading the NBA in three-point percentage shooting 66.7-percent (6-9) and is among the team leaders in free-throw percentage shooting 76-percent.
The Sixers play the Pacers at home on Friday and then face the Hawks in Atlanta on Saturday.
