Joel Embiid To Play 20 Minutes In Season Opener

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Joel Embiid will make his NBA debut on Wednesday night as the 76ers host the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Head coach Brett Brown says the 22-year-old center will play 20 minutes broken up in five-minute segments.

Embiid missed the first two seasons of his NBA career after having back-to-back foot surgeries. The Sixers' 2014 No. 3 overall pick has become a fan favorite thanks to his vibrant personality.

Embiid averaged 11.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 14.7 minutes per game during the preseason.
