Jazz Season Approaching At Kimmel Center

By RJ McKay

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The artistic director at the Kimmel Center, Jay Wahl, discusses the upcoming jazz season.

"The Kimmel Center is the hub for jazz. You want jazz in Philadelphia? You check us out, we got it. We've got everything going on, good music, great performers, lots of audience. Come check out what we're going. We're going to give off the season on October 17th at 8 p.m. with Cécile McLorin Salvant.

When talking about Salvant, Wahl says, "She just turned 26. So, we're not talking about someone who is very old, but she is the future of vocal jazz performance. She is devastatingly good. She is the reincarnation of Sarah Vaughn. She is an improvisor, she's a stylist, she's a vocalist. She's these great glasses. Her voice is really smooth."
