Jazz 'Flash Mob' A Hit At Reading Terminal Market

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Musicians from the Philadelphia Jazz Project held a jazz flash mob at Reading Terminal Market on Wednesday afternoon.
People eating and shopping at Reading Terminal Market were able to enjoy a little jazz with their lunch.
"I asked all of these musicians to come together and celebrate the Philadelphia contribution to jazz," said Homer Jackson, director of the Philadelphia Jazz Project. "Philadelphia is a major jazz city. Dizzy Gillespie came from Philadelphia. John Coltrane came from Philadelphia. There's two of the major giants of the music come from this community."
"It was pretty fun to scheme up an idea of having something happen, and folks don't know, and then they become part of it," he said.
The jazz flash mob was in celebration of jazz month.
People at the market thought the surprise concert was a hit.
"I loved it," said one shopper. "I appreciate jazz a lot because I'm involved with it, but that was, they're so talented!"
"I think it was wonderful," another market patron said. "I followed a saxaphone player from where I was getting my Philly cheesesteak. I didn't know they were playing over here, I was just following him and they brought me right to him."
