Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Treetop Canopy Tours at Spring Mountain

By Jay Lloyd

SPRING MOUNT, Pa. (CBS) -- There's high adventure waiting in central Montgomery County, Pa.: it's a getaway above treetop level.

Even though a pocket of snow was still clinging to the back of Spring Mountain recently, the sounds are summer were echoing on the front.

Thrill seekers from near and far were arriving for some high-flying adventure on a "zipline," which carries the timid and bold at daunting speed above the trees, harnessed to a cable.

"My biggest thrill was going 50 miles an hour," said one man we spoke with.

"It felt great. The breeze felt really good," said a woman.

"I was petrified, but got used to it," noted another man.  And another woman added, "Even though I was scared, I'd do it again!"

Spring Mountain operator Rick Buckman tells me that ziplining is something people just feel compelled to do:

"They say, 'Well, we can cross it off our bucket list.' "

Then, after the thrill, find a chill at the Spring Mountain tiki bar (below).
