Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Model Railroading in Phoenixville, Pa.

By Jay Lloyd
PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- There are two more weekends for model train buffs to enjoy an amazing railroad display at a Chester County open house.

The soft hum of HO-gauge trains fills the rooms containing literally hundreds of cars and locomotives, depicting the heyday of the Reading Railroad.

"Everything is a rendition of what the Philadelphia yard may have looked like, what the Reading yard looked like at that time," says Rob Super, president of the Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club.

The eye-filling display is being presented in a classic Phoenixville stone building, at Main and 2nd Streets.

"It's so detailed -- the more you look at it, the more you see," noted visitor Jim Krombach.  "You'll see somebody painting a house. You'll see somebody welding in a steam plant."

And the trains roll through it all.

The display is open for the next two Saturdays and Sundays, from 1pm to 5pm, and the admission is free.  For details, go to SVMRRC.com/open-house.html.
