PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thinking about a move to Canada? KYW's Jay Lloyd has some thoughts about a getaway to test the waters.
A Canadian friend called to remind me that the American dollar will now buy about 25 percent more in hotel rooms, meals, even vacation homes on pristine waterways. "Come on up," she said.
But it's a big country. So, where? How about Nova Scotia? On the northern coast, locals even brag about their beaches. Beaches?
"We have the warmest waters here north of the Carolinas. Our beaches are beautifully warm."
And if you're a seafood lover, Cape Breton is the nearest thing to culinary Paradise. Here you can buy live lobster right off the boat.
"Just ask the Captain what you want and he'll be glad to sell to you."
And if you're a city person who loves good pubs, clubs and an active art scene, Halifax has it all in a waterfront environment. It's a getaway worth taking.
