Jason Kelce, Cary Williams Criticial Of NFL On Ray Rice Situation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- On Monday morning, TMZ released new video which showed Rice striking his, now wife Janay Rice in the elevator, and knocking her unconscious. Hours after the second video was released, Rice was released from the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL despite receiving an initial two game suspension.

Eagles' players Jason Kelce and Cary Williams are not happy with the way Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL handled the situation.

"Right now, what they're doing, is they're trying to cover their tracks," said Kelce of the NFL. "They know they look bad in front of the public's eyes and they know that they look bad in front of everybody right now, so they're trying to make an example of Ray Rice. I don't feel bad for Ray Rice, obviously, that video is one of the most vicious things I've ever seen, but at this point I don't really know what to think of the NFL with the personal conduct thing or any of this stuff."

During an exclusive interview with CBS's Norah O'Donnell which aired on Tuesday, Goodell definitely said he never saw the second Rice tape until it was released this week. On Wednesday, however, it was reported that an executive from the NFL saw the second video on April, 9th.

"If they really wanted that tape they could have got it somehow, I firmly believe, so for them to come back and say that they didn't know this is what happened," Kelce said of the NFL. "Somehow they're trying to wipe their hands clean of this. The fact of the matter is, they did know, I think."

Williams, a former teammate of Rice in Baltimore, echoed Kelce's sentiment.

"I think from the beginning they dropped the ball," said Williams. "When they didn't ask for the tape and they didn't see that part of the video, obviously they dropped the ball with that situation."

"Whatever we need to do as players, but I know that Ray Rice made a mistake. I know him as a man, as a teammate, as a friend. What he showed in that tape was not him."
