Jamie Moyer On New Gig: 'I Look At This As A Great Challenge'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Chris Stigall talked to former Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer about joining their broadcast team this morning on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.

"I'm pretty excited for the opportunity. I look at this as a great challenge. It's something I've never done before, and it's a little different perspective than as a player," Moyer said.
Moyer also said that he's excited to work with new colleague, Tom McCarthy, saying, "I think very highly of him and used to chat a great deal with him away from the field when we would fly on the airplane and in the clubhouse. I enjoy Tom."
"I grew up in Philadelphia and I watched and listened to a lot of the people before me -- Ashburn, Kalas -- and really respected what they did and who they were, and the kind of person they were in the game and what they brought to the game," Moyer added.
Moyer said he can help fans better understand what they see on the field by, "trying to explain the game."
Since many diverse groups of people watch baseball games, "you're trying to appeal to all of them and that's a task I'll have to learn."
When asked if he'll have a hard time being critical of a team that's meant so much to him throughout his life, Moyer responded, "What it comes down to is being honest and just sharing. I have no qualms and issues with people as individuals. The players I've played with, I've gotten along with well, and I would assume it will be the same way as a broadcaster…I will always respect how difficult it is to play the game, but if you can share what is really going on and being honest about that, there isn't a problem talking about the play of a team."
Moyer will share his analyst duties with fellow former Phillie Matt Stairs. The two are replacing Chris Wheeler and Gary Matthews.
Moyer will announce his first game with the team from Spring Training on February 26th on Comcast Sportsnet.
