It's Severe Weather Awareness Week In Pennsylvania

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week for Pennsylvania.

Every spring, local and state emergency management agencies and the National Weather Service come together to talk about the dangers of the upcoming severe weather season. Each day of the week is designated to focus on one particular form of severe weather. These include tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, both river and flash flooding, and storm spotting.

The main goal of this week is to educate residents about the importance of storm safety planning. Severe weather can happen anywhere, and sometimes at a moment's notice. Staying educated and prepared can be crucial in avoiding potentially life-threatening situations.
