Issues Emerge In 2015 Race For Philadelphia Mayor

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The sale of the largest city-owned utility in America, or lack of it, has emerged as a campaign issue in the 2015 Philadelphia Mayor's race.

A big question in the race -- will the collapse of the deal to sell PGW to a private company turn out to be a big issue? Mayoral candidate Lynne Abraham thinks so.

She has blasted possible candidate and current City Council President Darrell Clarke for refusing to hold council hearings on the deal. Mayor Nutter is enraged at Clarke, but Clarke says he has other ideas.

If Clarke does run for Mayor, which means he has to resign his presidency, he might make this an issue.

Meanwhile Candidate Tony Williams, quietly planning a run for a year and a half, could be the beneficiary of a Clarke-Abraham feud if Clarke does decide to seek the higher office.
