Is Pottsville's Yuengling The Best Craft Brewery In The Country?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There are so many craft breweries these days that it's hard to keep track.

But sometimes, the original is still the best – at least when it comes to overall sales.

According to the Brewers Association's top 50 breweries of 2014 list, Pennsylvania's own Yuengling is the top craft brewery in the country, winning the top spot away from Boston Beer Co.

Yuengling bills itself as the oldest brewery in America. The original venture opened as the Eagle Brewery in 1829 but was renamed D.G. Yuengling & Son in 1873.

And Yuengling's not the only local brewery on the list; three others also placed in the top 50. Milton, Delaware's Dogfish Head came in 13th, Downingtown's Victory came in 29th and Hershey's Troegs ranked 44th.

As for the country's overall "best" list, Yuengling came in fourth -- the same spot it placed in 2013.
