Is Christie Headed To Washington DC With President-Elect Trump?
TRENTON, NJ (CBS) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be spending a lot of time outside the state over the next couple months, and maybe longer, as head of the Trump transition team.
Christie sat down on a morning news show to discuss what lies ahead.
Christie told NBC's Today show that the President-elect wanted nothing to do with transition during the campaign, making the governor's role clear when he was tapped as transition chief in May.
"He said you focus on getting this ready for me' and he said that we'll talk on Election Night. So we spoke on Election Night. But we didn't speak about me."
Christie was pressed about any interest in being part of the Administration, perhaps as Attorney General or White House Chief of Staff.
The governor dodged those questions. But the fact is he'd have to resign as governor to take a job in Washington as anything other than, say, chair of the Republican National Committee.
