Intruders Attempt To Break Into 5 Homes Overnight In Jenkintown

JENKINTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Abington Township Police say intruders tried to get into five occupied homes overnight in the Jenkintown section of the township.

In three of the homes, burglars got away with an assortment of video game systems, laptops, cameras, electronics and some cash.

Two of the attempted burglaries were thwarted by security locks on the window frames.

All of the attempts were made through ground level windows and residents sleeping above were unaware of the theft until the morning.

Police say two homes in the 300 block of Thorpe Road were targeted by the thieves.

In one case, the homeowner heard noises coming from downstairs and thought it was her cats, so she yelled at them and that was enough to deter the intruders.

Three other successful burglaries happened in the 1000 block of Huntingdon Road, about two miles away.
