In the first edition of Starter's Review, Donna DeCarolis the Founding Dean of Drexel University's Charles D. Close School of Entrepreneurship, speaking with Nick Bayer, President and CEO of Saxbys Coffee, discussing his passion, motivation, and the entrepreneurial spirit of Philadelphia. Saxbys Coffee partners with Drexel University and teaches the most important skills necessary to run a business. Nick Bayer teaches a franchising course at the Close School of Entrepreneurship at Drexel and outside of the classroom exists the wholly student run Saxbys Coffee on campus. Students are given professional autonomy to operate every facet of the shop. Learning by doing, or experiential learning, gives students a realworld look at running a business. Nick also discusses Philadelphia's conduciveness to entrepreneurship, the humility of our residents, and the unwavering passion needed to succeed.
