Injury Report: Eagles Special Teams Contributors Probable For Seahawks

By Kevin McGuire

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles remains out of action for the Eagles as the leaders of the NFC East prepare for a Sunday afternoon game with the defending Super Bowl champion, Seattle Seahawks. Foles did not practice at all this week due to a collarbone injury. With Foles remaining out, the Eagles continue to put the offense in the hands of Mark Sanchez, coming off a solid performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

Tight end Trey Burton (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game. The rookie out of Florida has yet to make much of a dent in the offense this season, but anything that hurts depth is never good news.  Burton has been taking on a role with the Eagles special teams unit. Burton is the only Eagles player listed as questionable for this weekend’s game. The Eagles should be fine on offense at the tight end position though, with both Brent Celek and Zach Ertz in good shape and off the injury report.

Other than Foles and Burton, just four other Eagles are listed on the depth chart for this weekend’s major NFC battle. All are listed as probable for this weekend.

Running back Chris Polk, who has also played some special teams this season, is probable but was limited in practice all week with an ankle injury that continues to linger. In the Thanksgiving win at Dallas, Polk rushed 11 times for 49 yards. He has returned 11 kickoffs this season for 340 yards and a touchdown.

Rookie kicker Cody Parkey is also listed as probable due to a right groin injury. The Eagles limited Parkey in practice all week, but he should be expected to be ready to go if needed this weekend. Parkey has been very dependable this season. How his leg holds up coming down the stretch could be huge in the NFC playoff race.

On defense the Eagles have listed defensive end Brandon Bair (elbow) and linebacker Emmanuel Acho (groin) as probable for this weekend. Bair has been backing up starting defensive end Fletcher Cox this season. Cox has been proving to be a monster on the end, so Bair’s injury should be a mild concern. Acho was splitting reps with Casey Matthews earlier this season to fill in for Mychal Kendricks or DeMeco Ryans. The Eagles list Matthews as the starter at inside linebacker alongside Kendricks, but Acho can still play a role on the defense.

LB Emmanuel Acho (groin)

DE Brandon Bair, (elbow)

K Cody Parkey (right groin)

RB Chris Polk (ankle)
