Mother Accused Of Throwing 1-Month-Old Baby In Water In Atlantic City
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) – It was a dramatic rescue in Atlantic City Sunday evening after authorities say a mother threw her baby into the bay in Atlantic City's inlet section.
Authorities say the baby was only one month old.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the end of Pacific Avenue. Eyewitnesses say the mother also jumped into the water.
Several bystanders jumped in and pulled them both to safety.
Seth Perkins helped pull them out of the water. He says, "It's just very bizarre and very sad, for her too. I hope she can get some help."
The mother has been identified as Patricia Shurig. The child is being treated at the hospital.
