Illegal Taxis Busy During SEPTA Strike
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The SEPTA strike is booming business for illegal drivers known as "hacks."
People standing by the Olney station in North Philadelphia tell KYW Newsradio with no public transportation, the "hacks" are working overtime:
"A 'hack' is a cab. It's like a person hustling for a cab, you know what I'm saying? It's a hustle! It's a cab. You know, you get your car and you pull up and say, 'does anybody need a ride?'"

They say cabs don't stop near that area and Uber requires that you have a phone and a bank account, so if you need a ride, it'll cost you:
(Kuznits): "How much do you charge for a ride into Center City?"
"$30! Easy!"
(Kuznits): "People pay that?"
"Yup. People have doctors' appointments, people have to go places."
But during the SEPTA strike, the hacks are not lined as usual:
"I heard people asking, 'do you still need a hack?' I don't know where their cars be, but they still ask around."
People say that's because the hacks are at work.
