Ill Cruise Passenger Flown To Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The Coast Guard has flown a sick passenger from a cruise ship to a hospital in Atlantic City.

A doctor aboard the Norwegian Breakaway notified the Coast Guard on Thursday evening that the 67-year-old required immediate medical attention.

A helicopter reached the ship and the woman was hoisted aboard for the flight to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Coast Guard Lt. Matt Kroll says the immediate concern was keeping the woman safe and warm during the hoist because temperatures were well below freezing.

There's no word on her condition and her name was not released.
