Ike Reese Praises Eagles Following Defensive Struggle Against Vikings

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Ike Reese, from 94 WIP, praised the Eagles for finding a way to get past the Minnesota Vikings this week in a sloppy 21-10 win at Lincoln Financial Field, crediting the defense and Quarterback Carson Wentz's handling of adversity.

Reese, while talking with Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said he saw the Eagles had certain advantages heading into the game and they found a way to capitalize on them.

"It was the right spot in the schedule for the Eagles to come in and be a dominant team...The Vikings, much like we were a couple weeks ago, coming off the bye week, it really disrupted the rhythm that they had through the first five weeks and the Eagles were the more desperate team in my opinion. The layout to me said Eagles victory yesterday and it played out that way."

He pointed out that it was special teams that made the difference in what was, otherwise, a even match up.

"What you saw yesterday was two defenses going on up against two mediocre offenses and, really, the special teams was the difference early in the game. We didn't even get our offensive touchdown until late in that third quarter...And Minnesota's offense is worse than our offense. I think that's what you saw yesterday, was just two dominating defenses having an impact on the game."

Reese likes the development he's seen out of rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, who led the team to victory despite recent struggles.

"I've actually love the way he's looked the last two games, not because it's been aesthetically pleasing to watch, but because we were so high on him and built him up so much in those first three games, you knew it was going to come down at some point. I like the fact that he's taken a little bit of some lumps here and having to realize the game isn't as easy as it looked the first three weeks of the season. But the most impressive thing is he doesn't hang his head. He's still a leader out there. Those guys are still willing to follow him and he's fighting through it."
