Simplifying Your Lifestyle Could Be Key To Better Health

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  If your New Year's Resolution was to chill a bit more, you may want to switch to simple living.

People try to simplify life for a number of reasons according to Dr. Heidi Freeman, assistant professor of kinesiology at the University of the Sciences.

"It's a general sense of dissatisfaction having this kind of feeling that there's got to be more to life than what I'm doing now," Freeman says, "There's got to be more to life than working and spending and more to life than this treadmill of buying."

It's not easy to make the switch. Freeman says you have to decide what you can live without, cable, a big salary, a high pressure job, then start small, making one change at a time, spend less and learn to say no to those wanting a piece of your precious time.
