Police: No Charges In Reported Carjacking Attempt Involving Homeland Security Agent In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) -- Wilmington Police say no criminal charges will be filed following an investigation into a reported attempted carjacking of a Homeland Security Investigations special agent.

Police say at around 8 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a parking garage on 11th and Tatnell Streets in Wilmington in reference to a reported attempted carjacking investigation involving a special agent.

During the incident, police say the agent discharged his agency-issued firearm once.

The man fled, but police located and detained him.

Wilmington Police say the investigation revealed that the actions of the 32-year-old man, who was confirmed to be involved in the incident, did not substantiate the charge of an attempted carjacking.   As a result, he was released at the conclusion of the investigation with no criminal charges filed.

Police say the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Division of Homeland Security is handling the investigation into the agent's actions.
