Ice Floes Create a Memorable Sight Along Delaware River Near Trenton

MORRISVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- The frigid temperatures have left their mark all throughout the Philadelphia area the past few weeks, making for some unique sights.  One of them is the Delaware River in Lower Bucks County, which has become quite the attraction thanks to stacking ice.

The walking trail along the banks of the river in Morrisville are usually a busy spot for folks out for an afternoon walk, but the crowds have been a little bigger than usual thanks to the amazing ice build-up.

Peter was out for a walk with his infant daughter, Jocelyn.  Even though he lives pretty close to the river in Morrisville, he says, he doesn't think flooding will be a problem like it was a few weeks ago.

"Last time it started to flood, yeah.  People got a flood up the road here. It was all up on the highway, and there was ice all over. I don't think this time it looks anywhere as bad. I don't think we're going to have any problems," he said today.

The National Weather Service says the risk of flooding is minimal when the ice does melt, and most of the locals didn't seem too worried.

While the sight of a frozen Delaware river is a first for many, some of Morrisville's longtime residents say this is nothing new.

"When we were kids in the '70s and '80s, it did this a lot," said one resident, Jim.
