Official: Patient Tests Negative For Ebola At HUP

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –  Officials say a patient at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has tested negative for Ebola.

Susan Phillips, SVP for Public Affairs, released a statement that reads:

"Preparations for the possibility of caring for a patient with the Ebola virus have been underway for several months at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). A patient who recently returned from West Africa was evaluated in a special isolation room at HUP overnight. Test results show the patient is not infected with the Ebola virus. All hospital operations continue as usual."

HUP is one of the area's designated Ebola treatment centers.
