Hundreds Show Up For Sporting Goods Chain's Job Fair in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Hundreds of job-seekers turned out in Atlantic City today, hoping to land a job at a new sporting goods outlet.
The line stretched out of the ballroom, around the corridor, wrapped around a spiral staircase and ended at the front door of the Sheraton Hotel.

Mark Frabbiele, of Brigantine, NJ, who had been laid off from the Trump Plaza, was among those seeking one of 200 jobs at the Bass Pro Shops store opening here in April.
"Customer service is key in Atlantic City," he said. "That's where my area of expertise is. Plus, I'm an avid fisherman and golfer."
Store manager Eric Clements says that despite the consolidation of the casino industry that put 8,000 people out of work over the past year, he's optimistic.
"Regardless of the bad news that we've had in the last year about casinos closing, this is still a place that millions of people want to come to every year," he tells KYW Newsradio, "and I think it's a dynamic market that's going to continue to grow and prosper."
Clements says this three-day job fair will run until Thursday, and he hopes to fill all 200 positions within three weeks.
