Hundreds Line Race Route At Philly Cycling Classic

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Sunday was race day in Philadelphia. Cyclists from all over the world took to the famous Manayunk Wall for the annual Philly Cycling Classic as hundreds cheered them on along their way.
With weather conditions ideal, the competition began with the women's event, a five lap, 60 mile race which featured 121 women from 17 nations, including China. Evelyn Stevens won the race for the second year in a row and says she loves that the men and women get the same prize money, and there's nothing like winning one of the country's most prominent bike races.
The women's race was followed by the men who rode a ten lap, 120 mile course. Kiel Reijnen was declared the winner of the men's race.
And it wouldn't be a bike race in Philadelphia without the partying. It was an early start for many taking part in this annual tradition. The lawnchairs were out, the grills fired up, the coolers were fully stocked and the beverages were flowing in many of the homes along the race route.
But in the middle of the party atmosphere was cycling enthusiasts like Hans. He was along the barrier just above the famous Manayunk Wall and said he can imagine what those in the race are going through, but only imagine, as he said he has no idea how they push through and the kind of condition they're in.
