Hundreds Gather Along Independence Mall For "Love Wins" Rally

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Across the country, people are celebrating the Supreme Court decision to uphold and legalize Gay marriage across the country, including right here in Philadelphia.

Hundreds gathered along Independence Mall to hold what they are calling a 'Love Wins' rally.

Local politicians attended, including Mayor Nutter, who had just landed from an Italy trip with the Pope.

He quoted the famous first Corinthians Love verse.

"Love never ends."

Philly Gay News publisher, Mark Segall says this is a cause he's been fighting for most of his life.

"Forty-three years ago, in 1972, I handcuffed myself to the Liberty Bell at Independence Hall."

Chris Bartlett is one of the rally organizers, and sums up what it all means.

"It's time for a celebration, both to look at 50 years of history that created this day, and to look forward to what's next. And we think it's really important to take that moment to say, this is truly historic."
