Humidity And Showers Return

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It has been a nice stretch with comfortable conditions the past several days, but now the humidity makes a return. Dew point temperatures, which measure how much moisture is in the atmosphere have been very low lately in the low 50s. Southerly winds have returned and will continue to bring in a warm and humid air mass from the south. Dew points will be on the rise tonight and on Wednesday and reach the 60s and low 70s, making it feel oppressive.

A cold front will approach the Delaware Valley on Wednesday afternoon bringing some showers and storms. Wednesday will start off with some sunshine but the clouds will increase through the day. As the front approaches, the best chance for some showers and storms will be late afternoon and at night.  There will be a lot of moisture in the atmosphere so some heavy rainfall is possible during the evening.  Highs on Wednesday will be near average in the mid 80s.

Behind the front, a lingering shower is possible early on Thursday.  Then drier air and clearing skies will return by Thursday afternoon with warm highs in the upper 80s but with lower humidity.

Temperatures stay near average with suns & clouds Friday into the weekend.
