Homeless People In Camden Tent City Wonder If 'Spring Cleaning' Includes Them

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - It's almost become an annual rite of spring.
Debate has begun, again, on how to handle residents of a homeless tent city in Camden, just off the Admiral Wilson Boulevard.
Upwards of five dozen people scattered across town have set up tents where they don't belong. Most are camped on land owned by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, which last week began to clear debris that built up over the winter.
No one knows for sure if the homeless could be next. Homeless advocates -- like the Volunteers of America -- try their best to help, but spokeswoman Rebecca Fuller says they can only go so far:
"It's a challenging population, for sure. Some people choose to be there, and there's little that you can do if that's the case."
NJDOT officials were not available to discuss their plans.
Camden has tried to clear these tent cities in past years with little success.
