Homeland Security Officials Raid South Philadelphia Rowhome
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia residents received some uninvited guests in a raid that took place today.
Undercover investigators removed boxes of evidence from a row home in South Philadelphia. Officers from the department of Homeland Security and U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement served a warrant to a home on the 1300 block of Ellsworth Street.
Eyewitness News captured the officials as they removed computers and what looked like identification tags. Neighbors awoke to banging and eyewitnesses saw two people being questioned and removed from the house.
"I heard a lot of banging, yelling, banging, yelling," said Nasfiys Berry, a nearby resident.
Neighbors say a man and woman resided in the house for a decade. They describe them as being very cordial and private.
The raid lasted several hours and has people living nearby stunned and wondering what's been going on next door.
"You never know," said Berry. "You never know. It's surprising."
Police have not yet commented on the raid, but ICE officials confirmed there is an active investigation at the property.
