Holiday Party At Montco Courthouse Forces Early Recess In Cosby Hearing

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Arguments continued for a second day in the Montgomery County courthouse on whether prosecutors should be allowed to present 13 additional accusers at Bill Cosby's sex assault trial.

But in the middle of the day, defense lawyer Brian McMonagle had to stop his arguments because carolers were ready to perform.

Apparently the choir was set to start singing at 11 a.m. on the steps leading up to the courtroom where the Cosby hearing was underway.

A court administrator stated, "the show must go on" and Cosby's hearing went on break until 11:45 a.m.

This comes after a day of theatrics that saw attorneys shouting at each other, even Bill Cosby shouting out answers to questions posed to prosecutors.

Prosecutor Kevin Steele said, "this is a lifetime of sexual assaults on young women."

He argued the 13 women should be allowed to testify to show Cosby was aware of the effects the intoxicants would have on the women, and to show the assaults follow a signature pattern.

But defense attorney Brian McMonigle opened his argument saying this was never about one victim, never about the allegations brought by Andrea Constand. Instead, he calls the prosecution's case an end-run around expired statutes of limitations.

"Nothing more that a bandaged bandwagon of claims put together inside Pandora's box."
