Positively Philadelphia: A Historically Haunted Philadelphia House?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Last Positively Philadelphia, we talked about the historic Powel House at 244 South 3rd Street in Society Hill -- the house that was almost demolished to make way for a parking lot.

This week we talk with the house's site manager.

"It's supposedly the most haunted house in Philadelphia," says caretaker Jennifer Davidson, who lives at the Powel House. "I have felt cold spots. I have a lot of people that come to events here at the house and tell me quite frankly and very matter-of-factly, 'you know you're not alone here'."

Some people, she says, have even heard footsteps, her husband included:

"He says sometimes when he's in the basement, he has said that he has heard footsteps on the floor above, and he knows I'm not in that part of the house."

Despite the eeriness, Davidson says this is a great honor:

"This is a huge part of our American history as we know as Philadelphians. We are in ground zero of America. This is where the party started."

And you too can join the party with a visit.

And for this week, that's "Positively Philadelphia!"
