How Will Hillary Clinton Woo Young Woman Voters?
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Although Hillary Clinton has done well with older women, their younger counterparts have flocked to Bernie Sanders.
But now that Clinton is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, how can she persuade millennial woman to vote for her in November?
Despite the historic nature of her becoming the first female major party presidential nominee, Franklin and Marshall Political Analyst Terry Madonna says Clinton should look to the future, rather than relying heavily on her credentials:
"Secretary of State, US Senator -- use that effectively, but not be trapped in being viewed as the candidate of the past. The one thing the millennials want, women as well as men: a candidate of the future, a candidate of the next generation."
So what should she emphasize?
"Probably the cultural issues," Madonna says, "because they are more culturally liberal, and obviously talk about job opportunities for the young, the pay gap. There are things that she can talk about that I think would resonate with voters."
He adds 70-percent of women in a recent Gallup poll had an unfavorable view of Trump. Meaning her Republican rival may help grease the skids in driving young female voters to Clinton.
