Bonek had just completed his first full year as principal of Pleasantville High School after having previously serving there as vice principal.

The school released this statement following Bonek's arrest:

"Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students:

The safety and security of our students are our top priorities at the Pleasantville School District. On August 8th, Edward Bonek was arrested. School district officials are fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies as they investigate the matter. The district is following all appropriate requirements set forth by the Department of Education and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, and the Board of Education remains fully committed to the well-being and safety of our students.

Respectfully Yours,

Dr. Clarence Alston

Superintendent of Schools"

Bonek is charged with multiple counts of possessing and distributing child porn, as well as official misconduct.
