High School Coach Accused Of Playing Drinking Games With Students Fired

PALMYRA, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania high school softball coach facing criminal charges that she played drinking games with students and belittled those who wouldn't drink has been fired.

The Palmyra Area School Board Thursday night fired 41-year-old Kathy Wicker.

That came two days after she was arraigned on charges of supplying alcohol to minors, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

Wicker had been suspended since school officials learned of the investigation April 16. She's free on bond awaiting a preliminary hearing on the criminal charges June 25.

Wicker's lawyer has not returned requests for comment.

School District Superintendent Lisa Brown said students shared their concerns about Wicker's actions with school officials, prompting the police investigation. Brown says, "That's the biggest safeguard we can have."
